Welcoming Wasat’s new Director of Stewardship and Sustainability, Rhamis Kent
Rhamis is a world renowned specialist in permaculture, environmentalism, and applied Islamic ethics. He will be heading up our Neighborly Needs program, working with local farmers and caterers to serve meals to those in need in our city. As part of our new Stewardship and Sustainability branch, he will also be teaching regular classes, trainings, and practicums in permaculture design, Islamic ethics, and environmentalism within an Islamic cosmology and epistemology.
His position was made possible by the City of Seattle’s Waste Free Communities grant program, of which Wasat was a recipient, and in partnership with Modest Family Solutions, a host site for Common Threads Farm’s AmeriCorps Food Education program.
