We are excited to launch our new Wasat Youth program: Rights of Passage. This is a 9 month program that will consist of a study of the foundations of Islam (fard al-ayn), covering the basics of practice (islam), faith (iman), and spiritual purification (ihsan). In addition, it will be an immersion in environmental studies: with modules on various local outdoor activities, including hiking, archery, permaculture, and much more.

The third component of the program will be an exploration of the importance of service, charity, and caring for those in need; allowing participants to plan and execute various acts of service. We will study the life of our Prophet, peace be upon him, the many verses and hadith about service, and the lives of great exemplars of service in our tradition.

In light of Divine Unity, we will focus throughout the program on the interconnectedness of life on earth, the interconnectedness of humanity in particular, and the necessity to serve our brothers and sisters in humanity—especially those less fortunate than ourselves. This program is made possible, in part, by the generous 'Honoring the Legacy of Malcolm X' grant from MANA and Launchgood. In the spirit of Imam Malcolm this program will nurture and cultivate young Muslims dedicated to serving Allah and serving humanity for the sake of Allah.
