Asalamu alaikum,

We are pleased to invite you to our annual Ramadan benefit program. This year’s theme, In Service of the Sacred explores the connection between spirituality and active engagement with the world, as exemplified by our beloved Prophet, peace be upon him. We are honored to have a keynote address from Imam Zaid Shakir of Zaytuna College. We are also joined by special guest and Wasat teacher Imam Adeyinka Mendes and our Executive Director Baraka Blue. 

Join us May 2nd at 3pm PST for an afternoon of inspiring talks and presentations on the growth of Wasat and our plans for the coming year. We will also celebrate and showcase individuals in our community who exemplify the spirit of sacred service. 

Among our achievements over the past year, we have grown our weekly offerings to include classes on Quran, Hadith, Islamic Psychology and Spirituality, and a Study Circle engaging in deep reading of foundational texts. We launched our convert support program Caravan of Love and have expanded our Neighborly Needs meal service to three times a week. We are also piloting our Wasat youth program and look forward to expanding it in the year to come.

This year we are raising funds not only to sustain our growing programs but also so that we can finally purchase a facility of our own. We have recently received the news that our beloved Hillman City Collaboratory is being sold to developers in the coming months. Yet, while we mourn the loss of our beloved space, we know that Allah is providing us the opportunity to find a permanent home to serve the needs of our community for decades to come. 

As Wasat continues to grow, we are excited to share our achievements as well as our vision for the future. We thank you for your prayers and continued support and hope that you can join us for this virtual gathering.
